August 21, 2016

Cameron had a big day today.  It was two of his very good friend's farewells along with the day he would be set apart as a missionary.  He had Jace Tilley's farewell at 11:00 and then Bryant Tingey's farewell at 1:00.  They both did a great job and set a great spiritual atmosphere for Cameron's day. Cameron had many visitors come to tell him goodbye.  Some friends and family he asked to come before he was set apart.  Colby and Candace and their kids came.  This was such a tender goodbye. These little girls and Cooper will change so much in the time that Cameron is gone but he knows that being and example is the best thing he can do. Lexi Hardy, Bayleigh Merrill, and Nicole Hurd all came to tell him goodbye.  These girls have a special place in Cameron's heart and life.  Lexi was his first love and to say their relationship is very close is an understatement.  They truly love one another. Lexi was even able to pluck Cameron's eyebrows one last time before he left.  Nicole is Nicole! Cameron loves and respects her and has a love for her that is unable to be put into words.  My sister Val and her husband Mark and son Luke came out too.  He loves them very much and to watch him tell them goodbye was a very tough thing.  I knew Cameron's faith had to be strong to be able to do these goodbyes and still know the choice he was making would be the best thing he could ever do. Cameron had gone the weekend before to Kendra Craynor's house to spend one last night with her. She was a best friend that knew Cameron inside and out.  I sometimes worried about how they would talk to one another... She taught Cameron how to make Oreo Pie (one of his favorites) before she left for college.  Tears were shed.

We went to the church to have Cameron set apart.  Jason, me(Nicole), Cameron, Annie, and Halle all drove in.  Grandpa Leon and Grandma Marge along with Grandpa John and Grammy met us there. President Ferry set Cameron apart.  Before he did he spoke to Cameron and us and gave us such a sweet, peaceful message.  It's as if he knew what everyone had in their hearts and minds.  It was a very emotional and beautiful blessing.  Cameron mentioned how great it was and how he felt the spirit there.

When we got home Cameron had his buddies come to say goodbye.  They are all so crazy and we will miss them coming around.  We know the paths they take will be good ones and that they will cross with Cameron's again.

The Earnest family, The Craynors, Chris Reeder, Mandy and Austin Bingham, Chad, Latisha, and Kyra Hardy, Jenny and Brock Hardy, and The Botts.  Those that didn't come still had Cameron in their thoughts and he knew that.  Those that I may have missed in this blog will not be missed in Cameron's heart.

It was tough to say it was time for bed and to go to bed as a family under the same roof for the last time for a couple years.

On their way home Amber and the kids took cups to spell out a love you Cameron sign on the overpass fence.  We can always count on her for those crazy things.  The girls and I made a poster that Jason went and put on a large piece of wood at the pasture on Forest Street.

Hopefully Cameron will feel the huge amount of love from those small little acts.
